ROME I´m way more familiar with. I love the albums but only saw them live once before. Dark, beautiful and very very cool! The first ever ROME album I ever heard was “Flowers from Exile” and it´s still my favourite.
Some snapshots also below the livepics. Just from the merch area. And a picture of Vlad (DDP):)

Always something magical and extra ordinary with the Icelanders (?). New band for me ( “Árstíðir (English: Seasons) is an Icelandic classically influenced indie-folk rock/chamber pop band. The defining characteristic of this band is their vocal harmonies, as all members sing” – all according to WIKI). Beautiful performance and very nice guys:)

“For those who don’t want to check Wikipedia: “Apoptose” describes the so called programmed cell death. It simply means that a cell dies when it is damaged or ill. This program works in nearly every living cell except for cancer cell that live on and on. When I was looking for a name for my musical project that was something that came to my mind. I especially love the literally meaning of the Greek word “Apoptosis”. It means leaves falling off trees. I still think that it fits perfectly to the topics and atmosphere of the music”

The second night, now in Stockholm. Left Gothenburg on an early train with my excellent travelling companions. Got stranded a couple of hours on the Central station before the Norwegians arrived so I could get to the venue with them. First time I went to Slaktkyrkan. The venue opened last february while I was still out of the country and it+s very close to Kraken. I really liked the place! Open courtyard and everything:) Next years Stockholm Slaughter will use both of the venues so it will work out really nice.
And SKOGEN totally ruled again! I do love that band. Great stuff. So for me, no supportbands this weekend. All equally fantastic with their specific own style. Couldn´t get any better:D
And also in Stockholm: not many mobile phones visible in the crowd:D A couple of Official clips below [Nordvis]
Grande Finale of the most excellent evening! “Havenless” as an extra treat with Grutle on iPad :D Great crowd also and very few mobile phones in sight (has that changed in general the past year or so when I´ve been out of the country?) Anyways It´s a good trend. But of course, no video clips to be found from the gigs.
Had so much fun, met so many awesome people including the ones who worked at the venue. The restaurant had an awesome vegetarian lunch buffet btw! So try it out if you ever visit Gothenburg!
Pt. 2 of a brilliant evening! Debut album in making which will be released in 2019 (Season of Mist). I do love the Trelldom, Gorgoroth, God Seed stuff, tho. Hope they still keep at least some of it in their performances in the future.

I can´t say I´m any expert when it comes to this kind of music and was only familiar with a very few of the performing artists, but I was very happy to be there. Loved all the dark stuff, the crowd was really cool and dedicated, nice people in general and the organizers and the crew (including the crew dog Balder who stayed in his own trailer outside the venue) were amazing. And there were always coffee and something to eat :D Met a bunch of old friends and also made a couple of new ones. For me the most memorable performances were by Sephiroth, Mortiis, Ordo Rosarius Eq and In Slaughter Natives, just to single out some.
Due to venue rules I wasn´t allowed to shoot from the pit in the front (because the curtain in the pit and because it would have delayed the bands getting on and off stage. Go figure xD) and trying to bully my way to the frontline was not an option because that would have been disturbing and annoying for everyone trying to focus on the performances. So I couldn´t really go and explore the space:)) But as always one just have to work with what you´ve got, and in the end get a bunch of crappy pics and some cool ones.
Thanks to everyone involved and here´s some snapshots taken with various of devices.
Before it all started…
“A dark ritual project, playing eerie and haunting industrial ambient music with a satanic background, obsessive percussions and frightening demonic voices. The original line-up consisted of Tomas Pettersson (later to form Ordo Rosarius Eq.) and Mikael Stravöstrand. They worked together from 1990 to 1993, then the former went on to form Ordo Equilibrio, while the latter continued under the name Archon Satani, as well as with his other project Inanna” – Discogs
Havard Ellefsen/MORTIIS – the head troll of Dark Dungeon Music performed “Ånden som gjorde Upprør” (Era 1) with some additions and modifications. Extreme amounts of darkness and smoke. Good for the atmosphere, bad for the pictures:)
“I don’t just want to do the record as it was back in 1994, but rather excavate it from 1994 and drag it into the new light of the current world, while retaining the atmosphere of the original sound,” – Mortiis [bravewords.com]
“Swedish medieval-ambient/neoclassical band founded in 1994 and led by Peter Bjärgö. Debut album is 1996 “Dark Age Of Reason” on Cold Meat Industry.” – Discogs
“I don’t make— and it’s never been my intention to make— music in order to be liked. I create it for me, because I have a need. If others like it, it adds an extra dimension of pleasure”

“Mind your own, avoid subordinating, stay away from collecting points for correctness, if possible, save a large amount of respect for others or others’ values, but don’t walk the line, take as much time as possible with nature and create as much as possible; it doesn’t matter what as long as you create.”
