Shit I did and my best findings from the past year (In no specific order. And I may have forgotten an album or 2…:/. See you in 2020:)

” ’Ars umbra’ means art of the shadow, it’s a vinyl-sized book designed to fit your record collection. The box-set edition also comes with the soundtrack on etched vinyl; a percussion-based score which was composed and recorded by Uno Bruniusson (DEATH ALLEY, MAGGOT HEART) with the set purpose of inducing rhythm and pulse capable of altering the visual experience; music and photography coming together in reverse roles. The book’s images were all inspired by music and its soundtrack draws you in through mankind’s most primal instrument: drums.” -Interview with Ester Segarra about her relationship with photography on Bardo Methodology“
Congrats again to my long time friend, former housemate and favourite Catalan for job well done! This will be in Swedish, tho;)

This is my friend Du X., who owns the awesomest vintage clothing shop on Gulou Dongdajie in Beijing. Had a portrait shoot with him one morning before he opened the shop att 11AM.
Metalhead to the core (partly a sucky kind of melofolkdeath taste, but we do agree on many bands. Bathory, Motörhead and so on;) and a collector of all kinds of cool & creepy stuff. Like authentic kapala´s, shrunken heads, Navajo art and also all kinds of old tribal/ritual/sacrificial items from all over.
We were about to don one more shoot before I left Beijing for good for some weeks ago, but it didn´t happen. have to plan for it when I go and visit at some point. There have been some big changes going on in Beijing ever since I moved there May last year and they are far from done yet. Gulou Dongdajie is one of the most popular streets in town and the changes were about to happen there also. Big time. So no one really knows what´s going to happen. Du´s shop is still there for now at least. I´m keeping an eye on my old hood;)
Most of the collected items are not for sale, but they are all over the place, so even if you´re not into getting some nice garments, you can always pop in just to see all the other stuff.
So be sure to pay him a visit if you ever go to Beijing!!:)
I can´t say I´m any expert when it comes to this kind of music and was only familiar with a very few of the performing artists, but I was very happy to be there. Loved all the dark stuff, the crowd was really cool and dedicated, nice people in general and the organizers and the crew (including the crew dog Balder who stayed in his own trailer outside the venue) were amazing. And there were always coffee and something to eat :D Met a bunch of old friends and also made a couple of new ones. For me the most memorable performances were by Sephiroth, Mortiis, Ordo Rosarius Eq and In Slaughter Natives, just to single out some.
Due to venue rules I wasn´t allowed to shoot from the pit in the front (because the curtain in the pit and because it would have delayed the bands getting on and off stage. Go figure xD) and trying to bully my way to the frontline was not an option because that would have been disturbing and annoying for everyone trying to focus on the performances. So I couldn´t really go and explore the space:)) But as always one just have to work with what you´ve got, and in the end get a bunch of crappy pics and some cool ones.
Thanks to everyone involved and here´s some snapshots taken with various of devices.
Before it all started…

The feeling when something unexpected and very very nice happens:) I have a lots of love for Norway and the people I know there so now I´m taking a moment to give some thanks and promoting the great guys at Norwegian Rat clothing company who just sent me some really great gifts!! Not just one, but two of their awesome limited edition jackets (the Halvdan Svarte GAAHL´S WYRD one and also the Naglfar edition) and a couple of bags and patches.
All in superb quality and I just LOVE all the details: rat buttons, a paw print here and there, embroideries, inside prints from great Norwegian tattoo artists like Jannicke Wiese-Hansen of Nidhogg Tattoo studio in Bergen (she was also the organizer of the legendary Blekkmetal event in November 2015. N.R. still got some of the festival t-shirts in stock! ) and Dagfinn Bjelland of Karma Tattoo in Haugesund :D
I took some pics to show you (below).
Huge thanks to Thomas, Sølve & Trond! And I think that I have Kirsti R. to thank aswell;))?
“From the east comes Hrym | with shield held high;
In giant-wrath | does the serpent writhe;
O’er the waves he twists, | and the tawny eagle
Gnaws corpses screaming; | Naglfar is loose”

I never finish any kinds of “Best of” lists for any year. But made a small compilation of shit I´ve been up to in 2016:) Very lame year with lots of problems and cancelled gigs/festivals/travels but anyways. Maybe a good thing because managed to keep it within 8 pages of pics xD
So here you go:
Long day. Early wake up call, train in many hours Glasgow – London (Nice views!! Lots of sheep:D), straight to the venue (way too long walk to the venue with all the gear) Always kinda cool when organizers care to pick up the bands somewhere. After a long day travelling it´s not on the top of the wishlist to do subways and long walks trying to find the place. Luckily we got full-service Vincent (Gigs in Glasgow) with us so he was in charge. Still, it was a fukken long walk!
VALKYRJA did a great gig! Until there were technical problems and then the microphone died. After some attempts to communicate with the sound booth, just to realize no one was even there, RDSX walked off the stage and the rest of the band followed. Nothing much to do. But at least it was great as long as it lasted:)
And our Vincent had a 10 hr bus drive home to Glasgow and had to leave before this exciting night was even over. Kudos to the guy for all his efforts!!
